Boomlegger is a "Foddian" game designed and prototyped in just 5 days for the 2021 Ludwig game jam. Drawing essence from games like Getting Over It, Pogostuck and Jump King , Boomlegger puts you in full control of your destiny, and your sanity, with a difficult but fair schmoovement mechanic. Gameplay: You wield the incredible power of the shot-leg - like a leg, but a shotgun instead - to blast your way out of an unforgiving and seemingly endless chasm. Or maybe you'll blast your way deeper into depression, who knows... Whether the shot-leg is a blessing or a curse depends entirely on your wit and execution. Master the mechanics, explore the map, and make your way to the top to become victorious. - Shoot to jump! You can walk left and right, but the only way up is to shoot your shot-leg downwards and let the massive recoil blast you away from whatever direction you point it. - Mind the torque! The shot-leg blasts you upwards, but it's not so easy to control. It'll send you spinning, making it a challenge to line up and time your shots to fly in the direction you're trying to go. - Make your shots count! Your shot-leg has 5 shots in its magazine and can only be reloaded once you've landed back on the ground. For many jumps, 5 shots is more than enough, but you'll want to keep an extra shell or two handy to recover from a mistake. If that sounds too forgiving, don't worry, some jumps will require surgical and creative use of all 5 shots. - Keep your cool! Failing a jump can sometimes be punishing - there is always a chance of falling back to areas you thought you were done with. But don't fret, this is part of the journey. As you master the way of the shot-leg, you'll find that challenges which once seemed insurmountable have become a walk in the park. - Buckshot problem solving! As you ascend further, you'll have to apply your shot-leg in creative ways to break through barriers, activate switches, trigger explosive boost jumps, and more!
