STORY Nick , an orphan who has learned to survive on the fringes, is being transported under custody to the police station when the journey spirals out of control. Sheriff Robert, an old acquaintance of his family, begins to act erratically . The conversation grows tense, control of the vehicle slips… and a sudden skid brings them to a halt in front of an isolated motel in the desert: the Amberhusk. A wreck at its entrance turns what should have been a routine inspection into the prelude to something far darker , and a cry for help pushes Nick to step inside . Once inside, the place follows no familiar logic . Its spaces are marked by something beyond simple abandonment: signs of a process that has crossed every boundary, altering human biology and warping everything it touches. As he moves forward, Nick finds no clear answers—only fragments. Remnants of something that happened there… or perhaps something that never truly ended . Then Sophie appears. With barely more than a flashlight , Nick explores the corridors and rooms, discovering secrets and passages not on the maps. More than once, he finds himself gathering tools and reading old notes to overcome the issues he finds along his path, comparable only to macabre puzzles . But nothing compares to the twisted, horrific sunflowers that have taken hold of the motel, making Nick's journey harder every step. However, he is not alone inside the motel, as old guests who act and look far from human roam the building. With almost no way to defend himself from them, Nick resorts to moving silently , hiding, and running away when detected. As a last resort, Nicks carries a gun with scarce ammo, which he desperately searches for in every location. Aware of the loud noise of the shots in the silent establishment and the resistance of the creatures to the bullets, he fires the weapon with shaky hands in a desperate situation, only to run away for his life right after. Even though Nick’s effort to survive in the gross and unnatural environment, his mistakes are heavily paid in blood spilled, bones broken, and a shattered mind. For the best or for the worst, no matter how broken his body is, the apparently normal-looking sunflower he carries prevents him from dropping dead .
