What is Shine on savior? Shine on Savior is an action platformer where you try to survive a zombie apocalypse and use anything as a weapon. Inspired by Dead Rising and Metroidvanias, we wanted to encapsulate the spirit of Dead Rising and give it a retro spin on it. Story Shine on Savior takes place in 2009 in the city of New Delmarr. You play as Roy Rogers who leaves New Delmarr for work for a few months and comes back to see his city overrun with Dregs (a person that is transformed into a being that feeds off of people to gain intelligence and evolve). Your mission is to save the city of New Delmarr from the Dregs, reconnect with your friends and find the truth of what happened to your city. You get to play as Rae, Roy's sister, after meeting everyone in the Shelter. Mechanics Shine On Savior is a single player and COOP action platformer that takes you through the city of New Delmarr and kill hundreds of dregs. Anything in this city can be used as a weapon (baseball bats, street signs, boxes). A ritual has been set in New Delmarr in which all of the humans and dregs resurrect upon death, in which the dregs have unlimited food sources to feed. The player will lose levels, weapons, food, and books upon dying. The player will always spawn back at the Savior shelter. Leveling up Players will level up by killing Dregs, picking up Scripture Pages and defeating bosses. Scripture Pages can level you up but cannot redistribute levels. The Trainer can help you redistribute your levels. Dying will cause the player to lose levels completely. Health - HP Storage - How many weapons you get (start = 1 weapon slot + Lvl) Food - How much rations you could carry Strength - Affects STR weapons Dexterity - Affects DEX weapons Tenacity - Affects TNC Weapons and Fists Scripture Pages When the player defeats a hard enemy (Zealots), or just wanders into the right spot, the player will receive and read a Scripture Page. This is essentially one of the player’s leveling up system. The player can pick to level up either Health, Storage, food, Str (Strength), Dex (Dexterity), or TNC (Tenacity). These affect the scaling of which type of weapon you are using. Health - HP Storage - How many weapons you get (start = 1 weapon slot + Lvl) Food - How much rations you could carry STR = Melee Weapons DEX = Melee/Ranged Weapons TNC = Boxes/Barrels, Fist, Joke Weapons NPCS Other than Roy and Rae, you will be able to explore New Delmarr and reconnect with your friends that will help you in your cause to save the city. Healing and Merchant NPC At the Savior shelter, the players will be able to get food rations from a Merchant NPC. Throughout the game they will find vending machines that will give them food. Players can find food throughout the level, but it is not guaranteed. Food is used to heal the player when they take damage. Be resourceful as each player only has 5 rations of food at the start. Players can level up food attributes to carry more food. Trainer NPC If you find Andrew Braxton and recruit him for the cause, he will be able to be used as a trainer at the Shelter. The Trainer can help you redistribute your levels. Books and Librarian NPC Books can be used to give you certain attributes. Unlocking the Librarian NPC will give you a library of books to choose from at the Savior shelter. The Librarian has a limited library when unlocked but the player can find books throughout the levels to add to the Librarian’s library. Books will affect which attribute the player levels up and gets stronger with the type of attribute. (Books below are subject to change) Book Types STR: Whetstone 101: Bladed weapons get a % damage boost Band Session: Musical Weapons get a % Damage boost Can you lend a Hand?: 2 Handed weapons get a % Damage Boost Fine I’ll Do It Myself: 1 Handed Weapons get a % Damage Boost Play Nice: Attacking/Throwing an STR weapon decreased durability % DEX: Sharpshooter: Guns get a % damage boost Sniper’s Guide 101: Rifles get a % damage boost Quick Draw: Pistols/Pistol types get a % attack speed Pitcher’s Guide To the Galaxy: Throwing weapons get a & attack speed Gun Cleaning 101: Attacking/Throwing a DEX weapon Decreases durability % TNC: How to Box: Fighting Style changes to Boxer Style Wing Chun 101: Fighting Style Changes to Wingchun Style Mover’s Guide: Attacking/Throwing a box/barrell decreases durability % GENERAL: GOOOOOAAALLL - Sports Weapons get a % damage boost Toys for Tots: Toy weapons get a % attack speed Mechanic NPC Once you find the Mechanic NPCs in the game, you will be able to unlock the Mechanic, an NPC in which they will give you 3 free weapons at the shelter (They might be really good weapons too). Weapons Anything is a weapon! We will design and create weapons that seem seamless in the world (Use Dead Rising as reference) There will be no combo weapons (Duct tape nails to a baseball bat). Each weapon will have a 1st attack and a 2nd attack. Players will be able to carry only 4 weapons at the start. All Weapons will have durability. All weapons can be thrown but in exchange will be discarded from the player and damage towards weapon durability will be applied. Melee (Str Leveling) - These weapons are up close and deadly. Ranged/Melee Ranged (DEX Leveling) - These weapons range from, close, close/far, and far distance. Some weapons have ammo and will have to wait to be recharged. Tenacity (TNC Leveling) -These weapons can be used as a melee weapon. These weapons are very strong but can break easily or can be very weak but have fast attack rate. This also includes your fist. Death The player will experience death at some point. Lore wise, every human and dreg cannot die forever and therefore will resurrect. The player will respawn after death, losing all weapons, books, food, and levels. The player will respawn at the Savior shelter. Enemies Dregs The Dregs are like zombies, walking around eating every living thing in sight. They will bunch up into hordes making navigating New Delmarr a nightmare.
